19-Year-Old Woman Burned Alive, Police Hunt for Killer

Following the gruesome murder of 19-year-old Jessica Chambers of Cortland, Mississippi, the hunt is on for her killer.

Tom Dees reported on “On The Record” tonight that this all started when the sheriff’s department received a call Saturday about a woman and a car on fire in a desolate roadway in Panola County.

According to Chambers’ family members, a doctor told them that a flammable substance was forced down her throat and nose before she was set on fire, Dees reported.

He said that Chambers was burnt on 98-percent of her body.

There are reports that she may have whispered something to first responders before she died that may reveal the identity of her killer or killers.

Dees said that investigators are also looking into her cell phone records for possible clues.

FoxNews.com reported:

Panola County Sheriff Dennis Darby said the young woman died after she was doused with a flammable liquid and set on fire on a road in Courtland, Miss., a town with a population of 460 people.

When first responders arrived at the scene, Chambers reportedly uttered a few words that might lead detectives to her killer or killers. Police have not disclosed what Chambers said — or tried to say. No motive has been released.

Chambers was flown to a hospital in Memphis but later died. Authorities said initial autopsy results reveal that Chambers died from severe burns that covered 98 percent of her body.

Anyone with information on the murder is urged to contact the Panola County Sheriff’s Office at 662-563-6230.
